- contraction of (이)라고 하는
- attached to nouns
- this pattern is mostly used as a subject of a sentence
- always takes a negative predicate
- 라고는 attaches to nouns ending in a vowel
- 이라고는 attaches to nouns ending in a consonant

Examples:
한국에 큰 호수라고는 별로 없어요./Korea has no large lakes to speak of.
그분은 책이라고는 별로 쓰지 않았습니다./He didn't write any books particularly worth speaking about.
