This pattern shows that something depends or relies on something or someone.

- used mainly with the question form of the plain style (i.e. 는가 or 느냐)
- a synomous pattern, -기에 달려 있다, is used only with action verbs

Examples:
그 것을 누가 하는가에 달려 있어요./It depends on who does it.
그 것은 그 분의 대답에 달려 있어요./It depends on his answer.
그 건 생각하기에 달려 있어요./It depends on the way you think.
