The continuation of an action from past until present time is expressed by this pattern. It also expresses a gradual change from one state to another over time.

- requires the use of the past infix except when the transferentive marker -다가 (used to show that some condition/state was interrupted and has changed to some different state/condition) is used
- 아오다 attaches to verbs with a final vowel of 아/오
- 어오다 attaches to verbs with any other final vowel
- 여오다 attaches to the 하다 verb
Examples:
그 것은 방해가 돠어 왔어요./It has always been an obstacle.
늘 마와 협력해 오다가, 배신했습니다./He had always cooperated with me, but now he has betrayed me.
결정의 순간이 가까워 온다./I've come to the moment of decision.
