This pattern shows that two events or facts are related in order to intensify or expand the first statement.

- ㄹ 뿐만 아니라...-도 attaches to verbs ending in a vowel
- 을 뿐만 아니라...-도 attaches to verbs ending in a consonant
- 뿐만 아니라 attaches to nouns
- 도 connects the noun in the second clause to the thing the first clause being compared and
- a synomous pattern is -ㄹ(을) 뿐더러..-도 but this pattern is less common

Examples:
이효리 씨가 예쁠 뿐만 아니라 성격도 좋습니다./Not only is Lee Hyolee pretty, she also has a nice personality.
나는 피곤했을 뿐만 아니라, 배도 고팠어요./I was no only tire, but hungery as well.
친구가 부지런할 뿐더러, 머리도 좋아요./My friend is not only diligent, but very intelligent.
