This pattern shows an action was completed and then is followed by a change in location i.e. an action takes place in a certain place and then is taken/moved to another location where a different action then takes place.

- only used with action verbs
- verbs often used in the second clause include 주다 (to give), 먹다 (to eat), 놓다 (to put down), etc.
- this pattern implies some continuity from the first action to the next
- tense and/or negation is expressed in the final verb of the final/main/independent clause
- the 가 portion is optional
- 아다가 attaches to verbs with a final vowel of 아 or 오
- 어다가 attaches to verbs with any other final vowel
- 여다가 attaches to the verb 하다/to do
- ths pattern can be confused with -다가 but -다가 indicates an interruption or discontinuance of an action

Examples:
음식을 요리해다가 먹었어요./We cooked the food and ate it (implying you cooked the food in the kitchen, for example, and then brought it to the dining room to eat).
위자를 만들어다, 친구한테 드렸습니다./ I made a chair and gave it to my friend (implying the speaker made it somewhere else and brought it to the speaker's current location).
