This pattern shows one has no choice but to do something and is used when something is beyond one's control.

- used with any verb except 이다/to be,is
- when used with descriptive verbs the meanings "it is bound to be" or "can't help but be" are expressed
- interchangeable with -지않을 수 없다/-안+verb+ㄹ 수 없다
- can be abbreviated -ㄹ(을) 수밖에 in colloquial speech

Examples:
길이 미끄러울 수밖에 없어요./The road is bound to be slippery.
내가 취직할 수밖에.../I have no choice but to get a job.
내가 퇴칙할 수밖에 없습니다./There is no other way but for me to retire.
